While This, Then That

I’m trying not to write here so often because, hooray! I’m writing more of that book I’ve had in my head for a while. I have 20 chapters outlined and four in the can. It’s kind of all I want to do right now, which is tricky because there’s all this nature out here.

While I was walking along this wildlife area, aware that a conference of yellow birds was convening,

I flushed out a coyote just a few feet from the path. He (or she) ran across the field away from me, and a raptor (or, Tracy says possibly a magpie) chased him. For a good while that bird dipped and took swipes at the coyote, possibly thinking he could be persuaded to drop whatever he might have just caught.

While I was googling what kind of bird will harass a coyote,

I saw another two coyotes in a different field, these for sure hunting. One ran away but one stayed, and that one looks so much like Banjo when she hunts that I would have sworn it was her.

Later, while I was taking Banjo down to the river to stand in the shallows and drink,

I watched a cow come out of the willows to stand in the shallows to drink.

While I was inside, taking a break from all the “while this then that” outside, I looked up and saw a florescent sunset.

As the sun went down, the color hugged the hills.

And there goes our last night here boondocking in Utah.

    1. Thanks! The more I work on that manuscript, the more work I realize it needs. You know how it goes!

  1. Looks like you are in a really great place. The sunset – wow! No other words. 🙂 Good for you to write the book; I think you are a terrific writer and I always enjoy reading what you put down on the page. Thank you!
